Building a Content Engine for the Outdoor Industry's Most Authentic Voices.

When you're a startup disrupting an industry, every dollar matters, and every piece of content has to work harder. Since May 2024, Red Summit Productions has partnered with Cache Seven as their exclusive content production and creative strategy team, helping transform a grassroots startup into a growing outdoor brand through scalable, adventure-driven storytelling.

Cache Seven connects outdoor enthusiasts with expert guides who recommend the exact gear they use in the field, from mountaineering and heli skiing to fly fishing, paddling, surfing, and cycling. Every guide creates curated gear lists tailored to their trips, allowing clients to start every adventure with confidence while guides earn affiliate revenue from the products they trust.

Our challenge was clear: create premium content that felt authentic, stretched a startup budget, and could consistently fuel marketing across every stage of the company's growth.

The Challenge

Trust is earned, not advertised.

Launching a new brand in the outdoor industry requires more than beautiful visuals, it requires trust. Cache Seven needed to showcase the expertise of its guides, communicate the value of its platform, and build an engaged audience while operating with the lean budget of a fast-growing startup. Traditional commercial productions weren't the answer. The content needed to be flexible, efficient, and capable of scaling alongside the company.

But the real challenge ran deeper than marketing. From day one, founders Mike and Kevin understood that Cache Seven's success would depend on earning the trust of the outdoor communities they hoped to serve. As active members of their own mountain towns, they knew these communities don't respond to flashy advertising or brands looking to capitalize on outdoor culture.

That philosophy became the foundation of our creative approach. Rather than positioning Cache Seven as an outsider, every story was designed to celebrate the guides, local communities, and outdoor traditions that make each destination unique. The platform wasn't the hero, the people were.

The Approach

An ongoing content ecosystem, not isolated campaigns.

Working on a retainer basis, Red Summit became an extension of the Cache Seven team, providing ongoing support across production planning, creative strategy, post-production, and content management. Rather than serving as an on-call production vendor, we operated as a true creative partner, ready to jump in wherever we were needed.

Whether it was turning around a last-minute edit, supporting a weekend production, organizing an ever-growing content library, or helping shape the next campaign, the retainer gave Cache Seven immediate access to a team that understood their brand, goals, and workflow.

During the company's early stages, we helped develop the creative roadmap for a nationwide grassroots campaign centered around a custom-built Sprinter van. As the Cache Seven team traveled across the country introducing the platform to guides and outdoor communities, we transformed their on-the-road photos and videos into a steady stream of branded videos, social reels, and photo stories, while collaborating on social planning and travel itineraries along the way.

Rather than positioning Cache Seven as an outsider, every story was designed to celebrate the guides and communities it served. The platform wasn't the hero, the people were.

Scaling the Model

A production workflow that could travel anywhere.

As Cache Seven expanded, so did the complexity of its content. When brand ambassador Brent Adams joined the team, we helped develop a production workflow that could travel anywhere. Beginning with media training in Bend, Oregon, we equipped Brent to capture high-quality content using lightweight equipment, including an iPhone, GoPro, and wireless microphones, allowing him to document authentic experiences from virtually anywhere.

From eFoiling in the Hamptons and deep-sea fishing in Hawaii to mountaineering in Wyoming and countless adventures in between, every trip began with Red Summit. Our team handled the entire pre-production process: location research, weather and logistics planning, permitting requirements, local crew coordination, creative shot lists, story development, and guide and brand partnership coordination.

During production, we continued supporting remotely by troubleshooting technical issues, reviewing interview framing, and ensuring every production met permitting requirements and creative objectives.

The Content System

Every shoot built to generate months of content.

Our work didn't stop when filming wrapped. Every shoot was designed to generate a large library of content rather than a single deliverable. After reviewing every upload, we developed comprehensive edit plans that aligned captured footage with Cache Seven's marketing goals. A typical one- or two-day production generated more than twenty unique deliverables across multiple platforms.

These included short-form social reels, brand storytelling videos, guide profile features, gear recommendation content, partner collaboration assets, and promotional campaign edits. Because we had helped shape Cache Seven's overall social strategy, each piece of content fit into a larger marketing ecosystem, balancing inspirational storytelling with educational gear recommendations and clear calls-to-action.

The Result

A repeatable production system, built to scale.

Over nearly two years as Cache Seven's exclusive content partner, Red Summit Productions helped establish a repeatable production system that allowed a startup to produce premium outdoor content without the cost of traditional commercial shoots. Together, we built a scalable creative process capable of supporting adventures across the country while maintaining a consistent brand voice and visual identity.

By combining strategic planning, remote production support, efficient post-production, and an intimate understanding of the outdoor industry, we helped Cache Seven continually expand its library of authentic content while supporting guides, brand partners, and audiences at every stage of the customer journey. We're excited to see what comes next.
